Join Mario and Mike Chinoy, former CNN Senior Correspondent For Our Next Media/Communication Training, Oct 18th, Langham Hotel, Shanghai
Since returning to Shanghai late Spring this year, I've fallen in love with the impeccably restored Langham Hotel, one of 1920s Shanghai's magnificent Art Deco buildings, and now one of the city's poshest boutique hotels, very nearby People's Square. This includes hosting our private monthly executive advisory lunch sessions at the Langham each month. Check out the Langham link at the bottom for some great photos.
Considering Mike Chinoy's two decades of service as CNN's Hong Kong and Beijing Bureau Chief,talk of business surrounded by nostalgic Shanghai is the right lead-in to proudly introduce Mike as our newest strategic partner and co-trainer for our media training and communication skills workshop on October 18th at the Langham. Mike is currently the Asia Managing Director for News Certified Exchange, an organization which trains and certifies professionals to be included in their powerful resource database of media-ready experts for journalists. As well, I am pleased to be included in that database as the media industry grapples with change and needs new ways to access knowledgeable experts on China who are also media-savvy.

More About Mike Chinoy
As Vice President and Managing Director for Asia, veteran correspondent Mike Chinoy oversees all business development and certification operations in the region. Mike spent over two decades with CNN, serving as the network's Hong Kong and Beijing Bureau Chief and its Senior Asia Correspondent. Mike is also a Senior Fellow at the US-China Institute at the University of Southern California and authored the book Meltdown: The Inside Story of the North Korean Nuclear Crisis.

Catalysts To Change Event in Shanghai: Al Pacino and the Gettysburg Address
Many thanks to our sponsors and organizers as Shanghai's first Catalyst To Change event held 18 sharp minded people riveted together for a day...5pm hit us all faster than a speeding bullet and onward we went to 5:30 still wanting to discuss more...highlights of the day were dissecting Lincoln's Gettysburg address which revealed crystal clear why that speech is considered one of the world's finest; In a nutshell Lincoln used a very specific set of emotionally moving majestic words combined with the simple use of repetitive phrases in 3's. As most of you know, repetitions, especially repetitive phrases such be delivered in sets of three; finally we wrappe up the day by viewing Al Pacino's masterful speech at the church funeral in the movie City Hall, another masterful combination of emotion, clarity and use of repetition...do check it out on youtube and share your comments...

Busy and Back To Shanghai With My New "Catalysts To Change" program
The Sanya Shanghai Connection

While this site still holds for you more practical information than any other Sanya website, apologies for the lack of fresh entries these past few weeks. I'm happy to share why: with the increase in client business from my speaking and coaching work I find myself increasingly back to the hot 'n groovy Shanghai scene;
I received a call from American Airlines APAC office to host their Next Generation Business Class launch event and then having a blast with colleague trainer extraordinaire Daniel Smith and Nana, conducting another workshop for Deutsche Bank's Shangha team. This time 150 of us high-tailed it on four big busses to Tongli for their annual weekend outng and teambuilding program.
Now our focus is quite exciting with a big push for the new "Catalysts To Change" event next month in Shanghai on November 21st. www.visiontovictory.com/CatalystsToChange.pdf
Globally Green Energy Consortium, a U.S. based nonprofit environmental consortium, is sponsoring the event and that leads me to a mention about the many "green" initiatives that the resorts and apartment complexes are committing to here on Hainan to protect the environment, including most of them using solar heating for their hot water supply. GGEC recently established its China branch headed up by Guy Bernfeld.
I risk being accused of figurative betrayal of Sanya by admitting that because of good business and the soon to be publishing of my first book "Catalysts To Change" I actually took the Shanghai plunge again renting an apartment and establishing a new office at the Pacific Center in Puxi. After SOHO'ing it at the beach in Sanya this past 18 months, I have to admit I like the vibe being back in the action of Shanghai.
Fear not, Sanya lovers, I shall not give up the cause and in fact, announce that the site will be launching a new look and enhancements being developed along with www.shanghaiexpat.com and www.asialinkexchange.com
Global meltdown? What? Where? Cheers, M
